Abbott Northwestern granted Magnet™ designation
On Friday, Feb. 13, The American Nurses Credentialing Center has granted Magnet recognition status to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, making it one of only 334 hospitals nationwide — less than five percent of all U.S. hospitals — that have been designated Magnet facilities. The designation is the highest level of recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is valid for four years.

Collaborative Governance

Collaborative governance at Abbott Northwestern provides a communication and decision-making model which places the responsibility, authority and accountability for regulating nursing practice with the nurse at the bedside. Minnesota Nurses Association

The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) is the professional organization for registered nurses. More than 19,000 nurses in Minnesota are members of MNA and Abbott Northwestern Hospital's nurses have a strong presence in the association.


Research

The discipline of nursing is developed and advanced through quality research. Nursing research examines areas of knowledge and practice that are of special concern for nurses. The nursing research efforts at Abbott Northwestern Hospital support the mission of the department of nursing and the commitment to excellence in patient care.
